At Rose Hill Elementary, our instruction is based on the Ohio Department of Education’s Ohio Learning Standards. These standards define what students are expected to know and be able to do at each grade level in all subjects.

One School, One Book

We are excited to announce this year’s One School, One Book school-wide reading experience beginning this October!

One School, One Book is a wonderful opportunity for our entire school community to come together around a shared book. The program is designed to create excitement about reading, encourage family reading time, and build a strong sense of community through a book that everyone can enjoy.

Our selected book this year is How to Eat Fried Worms by Thomas Rockwell.

How It Works

Beginning Monday, October 5, 2026, students will be invited to read one or more chapters each evening with their families. The next school day, students will have the opportunity to answer a trivia question about the previous evening’s reading.

Each day, we will share a trivia question and a prize. Our goal is for every student to have the opportunity to win a prize during the One School, One Book experience!

Books will be distributed on Friday, October 2, and Monday, October 5. Families can begin reading together on the evening of Monday, October 5.

Our One School, One Book program will continue through November 6, 2026.

Make Reading a Family Experience

Although students will be participating at school, the heart of this program is family involvement. We encourage parents, guardians, siblings, and other family members to read together, talk about the story, and enjoy this special time as a family.

You can make reading time as simple or creative as you like. Take turns reading aloud, discuss what you think might happen next, or simply enjoy listening to the story together.

Most importantly, have fun and let your children see that reading is something to celebrate!
